In Georgia given that Russia is operating on the territory it controlled for centuries and has finacial resources (as in gold and foreign currency reserves) exceeding those of EU it is only a question of time before it regains control over Georgia even if it were to enter NATO. They will get their government in Georgia and will have it withdraw. It’s interesting that Saakashvily Georgia’s President whose salary is being paid by some Soros fundactually offered recently Putin to bring Georgia back into the fold if only Russia restores its territorial integrity and sees to it that South Ossetia and Abkhazia are reincorporated into Georgia. Putin was non-committal; he does not see any need to give Saakashvili anything apparently being confident that Georgia will fall under his control anyway. Ultimately although Russia wants to have a degree of control over Europe by means of controlling its energy supply, its main focus is increasingly towards China and Japan new pipelines are going to the East. As far as that mainstay of NATO the US is concerned, Russia incresingly views it as a transitory phenomena whose industrial base has been largely dismantled and shipped to Asia and whose economic prospects are very grim
