    THINGS TO READ
**Caucasus scholar Thom de Waal wrote a Foreign Policy piece called “When Georgians Go Low, Other Georgians Go Lower,” discussing the aggressive campaigning style seen in the presidential elections.

**The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists published an insightful look at the possible implications of the Russian campaign against the Lugar Lab and other public health labs they’ve accused of producing biological weapons. Link: https://bit.ly/2TPvda6

  2. Dear Mark,

Good to know that Vazha Pshavela’s work is now available in Japanese: the Japanese will appreciate his stoicism and cult of suicidal courage.
He’s also ‘out’ in English. In October Garnett Press published a hardback selection, edited and illustrated by the Ukrainian-Georgian artist Andro Semeiko, translated by Donald Rayfield, of three longer poems and nine lyrics, together with stories about Vazha by Antelidze and Kordzaia-Samadashvili, some of the texts being printed in both languages: the book is called Unveiling Vazha Pshavela and it sells at £12.95.

    • Thanks for letting us know! We didn’t see this comment in time to put it in this week’s podcast, but it’ll be in next week.

      Best,
      The TBLPOD Team
